Cranial Remolding Orthoses
Custom Cranial Remolding Orthosis
Locally owned Prosthetic & Orthotic Group Of Northern Colorado successfully uses the STARband from Orthomerica, which is a custom cranial remolding orthosis used to treat deformational plagiocephaly, brachycephaly, and other head-shape deformities in infants 3-18 months of age.
The STARband was the first FDA-cleared cranial orthosis available to orthotists. Thousands of infants have been successfully treated with the STARband cranial remolding orthosis since its introduction.

Benefits of STARband Cranial Remolding Orthosis
- STARbands can be fabricated from a positive modified cast, unmodified cast, or a scan of the infant’s head using the STARscanner
- The STARband provides total contact over the prominent areas of the skull and leaves a void over the flattened areas to facilitate more normal skull symmetry
- Treatment generally takes 3 to 4 months but varies depending on the patient’s age and severity of cranial asymmetry
- Clinical consultation is available through the Prosthetic & Orthotic Group staff of ABC-certified orthotists
- STARband literature is available upon request
